And we can vouch for its benefits. Check out our favorite picks and see if they can help you to get happy.

What is CBD?

A chemical found in cannabis and hemp plants, CBD (cannabidiol) has many uses. It does not contain the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) compound in marijuana, but one of its most common uses is for relaxation and improving mood.

Other CBD benefits include relief from pain, migraines, and inflammation. It’s also been shown to reduce the frequency of some forms of epileptic seizures and help with some autoimmune diseases.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the only CBD product approved by the Food and Drug Administration is a prescription oil called Epidiolex, used to treat two types of epilepsy. “While CBD is being studied as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and anxiety, research supporting the drug’s benefits is still limited,” the Mayo Clinic reports.

When used topically, CBD can bring relief from pain and help to reduce inflammation and irritation such as with eczema and acne breakouts.

CBD risks

But CBD carries some risks such as fatigue, drowsiness, and digestive upset. It may also interfere with prescription medications — even when used topically — so be sure to discuss CBD use with your primary care physician before use.

Because CBD is still largely unregulated, purity can be an issue as well as dosage. Studies have found products containing less CBD than advertised and some with detectable levels of THC. This makes it all the more important to source from brands that stand behind their CBD quality.

Sustainable CBD products

Not only are these brands aiming to bring you effective CBD for whatever ails you, but they’re also doing it with the planet in mind with sustainability metrics in place, such as organic or clean ingredients, recycled packaging, and sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing their carbon footprints.

Barker Wellness Pain Relief Balm

The brand new addition to Travis Barker‘s CBD range brings the pain relief as fiercely as the drummer brings the beats. The vegan, cruelty-free balm boasts 1,000 milligrams of cannabinoids specially formulated to alleviate aches and pains. The THC-free pain-relieving creme includes cannabichromene and cannabigerol—two powerful cannabinoids that relax muscles and reduce inflammation to bring pain relief. They’re combined with broad-spectrum hemp to promote the “entourage effect” that delivers CBD and terpenes to reduce pain and inflammation. The plant-based balm also includes meadowfoam for its antioxidant and protective benefits, as well as rosemary leaf to reduce swelling and heal skin.

For Barker Wellness, sustainability starts within. The company’s mission is to help support wellness goals through the highest quality products. It uses only all-natural, vegan, and cruelty-free ingredients that are gentle on the body and the planet.
