Billie Eilish’s Second Fragrance Is Inspired By Water

Billie Eilish’s second perfume, a “sultry woody floral,” is out now.

Following the release of her first-ever signature scent in 2021, Grammy Award-winning singer Billie Eilish has debuted her latest fragrance, Eilish No. 2.

Launched on November 18, the vegan and cruelty-free scent features clean ingredients and an “alluring aroma” of Italian bergamot and apple blossom. It also has notes of earthy spices like black pepper and papyrus with base notes of woody palo santo and ebony.

The fragrance taps into the pop star’s more sensual side. “With [my first perfume], I wanted to make it so that anyone could wear it,” Eilish told Elle. “But even more so with this one. I wanted it to be a different sibling to Eilish and just feel like the darker, more sultry sibling.”

Eilish says her synesthesia, a neurological condition that causes senses to merge, helped her craft the perfume, which she says is inspired by water.

“I really liked the idea of a darker, rainy world for Eilish No. 2,” she said in a press release. “We started with the original ‘Eilish’ elements of warmth and sweetness, but then added spicy and woodsy elements for a more wet feeling.”

Billie Elish’s “No.2” perfume is available now via the brand’s website.

Eilish enters the world of beauty

Similar to the first fragrance, which was contained in a gold metallic bust, the perfume’s bottle was fashioned after Eilish’s favorite body parts—the chest, neck, and collarbone.

Eilish’s first perfume, which comes packaged in sustainable materials, features warm notes of mandarin, cocoa, red berries, and creamy vanilla. The amber gourmand scent also has base notes of musk, tonka bean, and woods.

Where Eilish No. 2 was inspired by water, the singer’s debut fragrance was born in the kitchen. “I’ve always been in love with vanilla, since I was a kid and my mom would teach me to bake,” Eilish told Vogue.

Although the perfumes are Eilish’s first foray in beauty, she has previously dabbled in the world of fashion.

In 2021, she teamed up with Nike to launch two, limited-edition Air Jordan silhouettes—a beige Air Jordan 15 and a lime green Air Jordan 1 KO.

“I am SO excited to finally share my two Air Jordan silhouettes with you,” she wrote on Instagram. “It was such an incredible and surreal experience getting to create these, especially in a sustainable fashion (100 percent vegan with over 20 percent recycled materials).”

Celebrity perfume brands

Eilish is the latest singer to enter the perfume market.

In 2021, Rihanna debuted a gender-neutral fragrance that sold out immediately. Called Fenty Eau de Parfum, it features notes of musk, tangerine, magnolia, and blueberry.

Ariana Grande also has a long list of perfumes under her belt, including Ari—her first fragrance, which she launched back in 2015—Cloud, Frankie, Moonlight, and Thank U Next.

She released the vegan and cruelty-free fragrance “God Is a Woman” in 2021. Named after the second single from her 2018 album Sweetener, it features 91 percent natural ingredients.

Now, Grande is set to debut her first fragrance duo in December. Featuring two scents, Mod Vanilla and Mod Blush, the Mod collection will be available exclusively at Ulta.com on December 1, followed by a nationwide launch at Ulta Beauty stores on December 11.

“I really wanted to do something different and exciting for my fans by launching two new fragrances at once and I so hope they love them the way my team and friends and I do,” the pop icon said in a press release.
