Coach Hands the Pen to Charli XCX, Malala Yousafzai, and Gen Z

Coach’s new always-on series &Coach hands storytelling to Gen Z creators and a roster spanning Charli XCX, Malala Yousafzai, and three WNBA stars, betting that shared authorship beats prescribed aspiration.

Charli XCX, the English pop musician who turned a shade of green into a season-long event, spends her moment in Coach’s newest project doing almost nothing; she sits with the stillness of an artist between albums. A handbag rests in the frame.

That idleness is the idea behind &Coach, the always-on content series the brand unveiled today. Coach calls it not a campaign but a platform of shared authorship, assembled with Gen Z creators, cultural figures, and hundreds of consumers folded into the work before a frame was shot.

The premise inverts the usual luxury proposition, which sells a finished self and asks the buyer to grow into it. “With &Coach, we’re exploring a new model for how brands build relevance and participate in culture,” Joon Silverstein, chief marketing officer at Coach, said in a statement. “This generation doesn’t want to inherit a prescribed version of aspiration — they want to shape identity for themselves, and they want to be part of the process. &Coach was built by bringing Gen Z creatives, cultural voices, and hundreds of consumers into the work from day one. It’s a fundamentally different brief, and it changes everything: the stories we tell, the voices we center, and how the platform evolves over time.”

The series lives on social, anchored by new Instagram and TikTok accounts under the handle @and.coach. Each participant narrates the unglamorous interval before a first big chance. Coach bags appear as props of ordinary life, carried into the moment rather than presiding over it.

The opening roster spans music, sport, film, and activism. Alongside Charli XCX are the producer PinkPantheress, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, the actress and activist Yasmin Finney, and the NASCAR driver Toni Breidinger, steadying herself in a sport built largely by and for men. The basketball contingent includes Paige Bueckers, the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year, her two-time All-Star peer Angel Reese, and Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft. Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek, Avantika, Lilas, and the South Korean group KiiiKiii fill out the first wave.

Coach embedded Gen Z creative directors into the platform’s development, working with United Talent Agency’s Next Gen Practice and the agency Marcel, and looping in consumers through continuous feedback.

None of this comes from a brand in trouble. Coach has spent years building what chief executive Todd Kahn calls “expressive luxury.” “It’s about putting the consumer at the center,” he told Glossy. “We use them as our muse,” Kahn said. “They’re the most universally connected generation. What’s relevant [to them] in Seoul is relevant in New York, and that gives us a common language.”

The numbers have followed. Revenue at Coach rose 31 percent year over year in parent Tapestry’s fiscal 2026 third quarter, ended March 28, and Tapestry lifted its full-year outlook to roughly $7.95 billion as the wider luxury market softened. The loop is its own reward, Silverstein said at a Marketing Dive event in February. “It’s so much more powerful when our consumers see themselves in the brand and feel like they are helping to build that brand together with us,” he said.

What &Coach proposes is a smaller claim than luxury usually makes. “At Coach, we believe luxury should inspire confidence without conformity,” Silverstein said. “For this generation, self-expression is personal and constantly evolving. A Coach bag doesn’t define identity—it supports people through the moments that shape it.”
