Fusion Resort Da Nang Earns Vietnam Its First WITT Property: ‘a True Leader’

Share

Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang just became Vietnam’s first WITT Certified property, earning its place among the world’s top wellness hotels.

Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang has become the first property in Vietnam to earn the WITT Certified designation, placing it among a global community of more than 150 hotels and resorts that have passed the same rigorous, in-person wellness audit. The achievement puts the Da Nang resort alongside properties like Wildflower Farms, Auberge Collection in New York’s Hudson Valley, Carillon Miami Wellness Resort in Florida, and W Punta de Mita in Mexico, each of which cleared the same bar.

The designation comes from WITT (Wellness in Travel & Tourism), a woman-founded organization led by Robin Ruiz that has been called the Michelin Guide for wellness travel. The bar is deliberately high: each property undergoes an anonymous, in-person evaluation across more than 100 criteria organized around five pillars — healthy eating, holistic healing, nature, movement, and local impact. The certification lasts three years before a re-audit is required, and the program was created specifically to counter “wellness-washing,” the industry term for marketing hotels as wellness-focused without the programming to support it. The wellness travel market is projected to reach $1.3 trillion globally, and WITT-certified properties report a 20 percent higher average daily rate than non-certified hotels — making the seal as much a commercial differentiator as a philosophical one.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as WITT Certified,” Mario Mendis, General Manager of Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang, said in a statement. “This certification is a testament to our ongoing commitment to providing our guests with a sanctuary where they can relax, rejuvenate and reconnect. We are honored to be part of a movement that elevates wellness standards in the hospitality industry.”

What earned it

The resort’s wellness programming runs considerably deeper than a spa menu. Five meditation and yoga classes take place every day, beach and water activities draw on the property’s oceanfront positioning between central Da Nang and the UNESCO-listed ancient town of Hoi An, and a farm-to-table culinary philosophy threads through every meal. For guests staying in select room categories, daily spa rituals are built into the stay and guided by a dedicated Wellness Guru, a staff member whose role extends beyond scheduling classes to offering personalized guidance, intuitive recommendations, and consistent support throughout a guest’s entire stay. At the property’s center, Maia Spa took home multiple distinctions at the World Luxury Spa Awards 2025, including Global Winner for Luxury Beach Resort Spa and Global Winner for Luxury Spa Retreat.

The fifth pillar of the WITT framework, local impact, is where Fusion Da Nang’s credentials run deepest. The resort maintains active community partnerships and a commitment to environmental responsibility that feeds directly into its culinary and cultural programming, drawing on the region’s coastal heritage and agricultural bounty. The dining program reflects this grounding: plant-based and vegetarian menus anchor the wellness side, while Char Grill House, the resort’s beachfront fine-dining venue, leans into local seafood alongside Vietnamese and Western preparations. Epicure Vietnam has recognized it for the country’s “Best Resort Dining.”

The accommodations reflect this same sensibility. Spacious ocean-view rooms and secluded private pool villas are finished in neutral tones and natural textures, with the resort’s signature “resort in the sky” concept offering elevated coastal views alongside those grounding interiors. Each space invites actual slow living.

“We are excited to welcome Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang into the WITT Certified community,” Robin Ruiz, Founder & CEO of WITT, said in a statement. “Their dedication to providing meaningful wellness experiences makes them a true leader in the industry, and we look forward to supporting them in promoting their new certification to wellness-minded travelers.”

A Recognition that travels

To see what WITT certification looks like at its best globally, Wildflower Farms, Auberge Collection in New York’s Hudson Valley, offers a useful parallel: a farm-driven retreat built around the land it sits on, where the wellness experience flows from the setting itself rather than being overlaid onto it. Da Nang’s version arrives via a different geography but the same logic — the ocean, the local food culture, and the proximity to Hoi An are the ingredients, not just the scenery.

Robb Report Vietnam has named Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang Vietnam’s Best Wellness Resort for two consecutive years, and the property currently holds a nomination in the Destination Spa category for Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2026, the results of which are due later this year.
