Pangaia Comes to Soho to Share Its ‘Positive Earth Vision’ With First London Store

Pangaia has opened its first U.K. store on Carnaby Street, emphasizing sustainability and innovation.

Purpose-driven apparel brand Pangaia has unveiled its inaugural standalone U.K. store in the heart of London on Carnaby Street, offering a tranquil retreat from the city’s bustling energy. Opening today, the store aims to provide an immersive nature experience, utilizing circular practices and eco-friendly materials to minimize environmental impact.

Pangaia, founded by influencer Miroslava Duma, became a prominent name several years ago due to its vibrant sweatshirts and the pandemic’s impact on fashion. Following the pandemic, Pangaia saw a significant decline, closing 2022 with a $50.4 million loss and a 42 percent drop in sales to $37.1 million, a sharp fall from its 2020 peak of $76 million. While initially successful with eco-friendly leisurewear, Pangaia struggled as consumers shifted to vintage, designer, and new style trends post-pandemic. Despite attracting celebrities like Bar Refaeli, Jaden Smith, and Jennifer Lopez, Pangaia’s inability to innovate in terms of fit and silhouette led to its diminished appeal.

The sustainable leisurewear label hopes the new brick-and-mortar location can help lift its sales and appeal. “We are delighted to be opening our first U.K. standalone store on Carnaby Street, one of the most iconic and historic streets in London,” Nathalie Longuet, CEO at Pangaia, said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming our customers and sharing our positive Earth vision.”

At the center of the new store’s design is a striking blue sphere, visible from the street, symbolizing Mother Earth and reminding visitors of humanity’s connection to the environment. Upon entering, customers are greeted by a lush interior featuring a live planter filled with evergreens, perennials, and herbs, specifically chosen to thrive in the store’s unique microclimate. The store’s atmosphere, enriched with natural scents, promotes a sense of tranquility, allowing visitors to reconnect with nature.

Located at 57 Carnaby Street, Pangaia’s 1,500-square-foot store showcases a wide range of gender-neutral apparel for both adults and children in vibrant and neutral colors. The store invites shoppers to explore its earth-conscious clothing line while also learning about Pangaia’s innovative materials science, which underscores the brand’s dedication to science, purpose, and design.

The mission-driven lifestyle label brings materials science innovations to the forefront of fashion via its global collective of scientists, technologists, and designers who use nature’s intelligence to create apparel from advanced tech and bio-engineered materials. Pangaia’s vision is to inspire a positive future for Earth by designing products that are more beneficial for the planet than if they did not exist. Each product is born from science and purpose, aiming to solve environmental issues in the fashion industry. The company is committed to protecting, preserving, and promoting biodiversity through pioneering materials that balance planet, functionality, and purpose.

Positioned among notable retailers such as END, Adidas Originals, and Axel Arigato in Shaftesbury Capital’s lively Soho neighborhood, Pangaia’s new store enhances the area’s reputation for cutting-edge retail experiences. By integrating retail with environmental consciousness, the Pangaia Carnaby Street store sets a new benchmark for sustainable and immersive shopping.
