Machine Gun Kelly popped the question to Megan Fox on Tuesday with a custom ethical diamond and emerald ring designed by jeweler Stephen Webster.
It’s been more than a year-and-a-half since Kelly (Colson Baker), 31, and Megan Fox, 35, began dating. They met while filming the thriller Midnight in the Switchgrass. The couple got engaged at one of the first places they spent time together.
“In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree,” Fox wrote on Instagram. “We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time. Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.”

Webster is no stranger to celebrities. He’s designed for Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, Ozzy Osbourne, Steven Tyler, Sir Elton John, Pink, and Christina Aguilera, among others. He was creative director and later chairman of Garrard & Co, warrant holder to the Prince of Wales.
According to the Stephen Webster website, the business’s philosophy is to “be a force for good.” The Positive Luxury certified business releases its own emissions report. Currently carbon neutral, it’s aiming to be net-zero by 2030.
Webster has long led the way in ethical jewelry design. “We embrace challenges to become more sustainable in our practices and we are led by a mission to operate in a socially responsible way.”
The family-owned business says it honors the same attention to detail it brings to design to how materials and stones are sourced, “with a belief that fine jewellery should not only be impeccably crafted, but also stand for something good, with sustainability at the heart of each step.”
Webster has been advocating for ethically sourced materials for more than 40 years. “We ensure each of our suppliers are compliant with our Social and Environmental Code of Conducts and that our diamonds are conflict-free, sourced from certified suppliers of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. We use 100% recycled gold and silver across our jewellery collections and use Fairtrade Gold by request.”
In 2011, it became one of the first brands in the world to receive a Fairtrade Gold license. It has since visited numerous mines around the world to develop a firsthand understanding of working conditions and practices.
It says it holds its suppliers to “the highest of standards” with commitments from all suppliers to Webster’s environmental and ethical codes of conducts, “pledging to treat their workers with respect and dignity. Our policies additionally support labour and human rights, freedom of association, collective bargaining, and mandated minimum wages and benefits, as well as the prevention of forced labour, child labour, human tracking, involuntary labour, and excessive working hours.”
The company says it’s also committed to ethics in its offices, with a focus on “development, retention, diversity, and equality in the workplace and the elimination of discrimination, with polices to provide equality and fairness for all in our employment and in our provision of services.” It says it has also dedicated an in-house “Green Team” to implement sustainable business solutions.
In 2018, the designer took a stand against plastic pollution by launching ‘The Last Straw’. The alternatives to plastic straws are handcrafted in Sterling silver and engraved with the owner’s first name. That launch brought a partnership with Plastic Oceans International, and 10 percent of all sales proceeds are donated to the group.

Kelly and Fox’s relationship has been anything but understated. Frequently photographed locking lips, Fox appeared in Kelly’s video “My Bloody Valentine”. Kelly also reportedly wears a vial of Fox’s blood around his neck.
According to Kelly, Fox gave him the blood when she was heading out of the country to film a movie.
“Some people give, like, a handkerchief to their partner or whatever,” he said during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show. “She gave me her DNA.”
Blood made an appearance during the engagement, too. “And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes. …and then we drank each other’s blood,” Fox wrote.
Kelly proposed with a two-stone pear-cut ring featuring a diamond and an emerald.
“[I] know tradition is one ring, but [I] designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love,” Kelly wrote on Instagram.
The couple is often photographed alongside Kelly’s frequent collaborator, former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, who recently became engaged to Kourtney Kardashian—with an ethically sourced diamond engagement ring. Both Kourtney and sister Kim, who’s been dating one of Kelly’s best friends, SNL star Pete Davidson, also commented.
“So happy for u guys!!!! ????????❤️,” Kim Kardashian commented on Fox’s video. Kourtney Kardashian posted, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
