Bruichladdich Unveils Fully Traceable Luxury Whiskies: ‘We’re Committed’

Share

Bruichladdich Distillery is a beacon of both innovation and tradition. Its latest venture sees the distillery launch its first high-age statement whiskies in the Luxury Redefined range, The Bruichladdich Eighteen and The Bruichladdich Thirty.

Nestled on the rugged shores of Islay, the distillers at Bruichladdich are not short on inspiration. The surrounding region gives way to long contemplative pauses — perfect for pairing with a smooth high-age statement whisky. Bruichladdich has debuted two fully traceable whiskies that it says are testament to its commitment to Islay terroir, sustainability, and the label’s longstanding craftsmanship.

“18 years ago, we distilled spirit from locally grown barley and our passion to diversify and champion our growing program has never wavered,” Head Distiller Adam Hannett said in a statement. “Every element of The Bruichladdich Eighteen – from the specific harvest and barley varietals used, to the exact casks it has matured in – is fully traceable. At Bruichladdich Distillery, we’re committed to making delicious whisky with real provenance that benefits the community – and The Bruichladdich Eighteen is the embodiment of this ethos.”

Born from the distillery’s revival in 2001, this whisky symbolizes the rekindled connection between the land and the distiller and further builds on its B Corp certification commitments. Bruichladdich was the first whisky and gin distillery in Europe to become B Corp certified — earning the mark in 2021. Bruichladdich’s commitment to supporting local agriculture is also evident in its partnership with 20 farming partners on Islay, ensuring that more than half of the distillery’s barley comes directly from the island.

The Eighteen offers consumers a symphony of flavors, matured exclusively in ex-Bourbon casks on Islay, and presented at 50 percent ABV. Its profile is a blend of honey, butterscotch, and citrus on the nose, with a palate rich in tropical fruits and toasted oak.

The Bruichladdich Thirty tells a story of resilience and rebirth, distilled from casks that witnessed the distillery’s near-demise and subsequent resurrection. Matured in handpicked ex-Bourbon casks and bottled at 43.2 percent ABV, The Thirty is a refined expression that pays homage to the distillery’s past while looking forward to its future. It balances the sweetness of toasted oak and vanilla with dark chocolate and a delicate floral essence, all underpinned by a whisper of Islay’s maritime breeze.

In keeping with Bruichladdich’s pioneering spirit, the Luxury Redefined range introduces innovative, sustainable packaging. A collaboration with James Cropper has resulted in a bespoke, eco-friendly outer wrap made from recyclable paper pulp, shaped to the distillery’s distinctive bottle, and produced entirely with green energy. The series also debuts a new proprietary bottle design, emphasizing elegance and sustainability with an average of 60% recycled glass content and a sophisticated glass closure.

The Bruichladdich Eighteen and Thirty are priced at $179.99 and $1,999.99 respectively for each 750mL bottle.
